Duet is written for the Daisy guitar and the Lou Harrison resophonic guitar, both in 11-limit just intonation. The piece explores the 22 tones within these combined tuning systems, unconventional approaches to pitch and time, and hyper-legato playing techniques that mimic the harp.

Performers are encouraged to interpret the piece without strict adherence to note values, while observing the spatial location of the notes on the page. This results in organically shifting tempi, metric irregularity between the two parts, and an emergent heterophonic texture. The two guitarists play their parts together but freely, to create an individual and shared sense of time.
