Performed by Grace Talaski

Folkloric gestures were unearthed and compartmentalized within a repeating prime number (surface) beat structure. The structure expands over the course of the piece, while simultaneously accumulating ornamentations, which may be interpreted as a fictitious narrative. In between spaces that are perceived as invisible, the clarinetist transforms into a Lark – a songbird that sings in flight through the illusion of enchantment. In a quest for morality, the bird can only sing the song of the heart.
